Cabot Corporation recently said that the establishment of a black masterbatch plant in Tianjin, which has invested about 20 million U.S. dollars, has begun. The production capacity is about 45,000 tons/year, and it will be expanded to 80,000 tons/year in the future. The plant is located in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and is expected to be put into production in mid-2011.
Sean Keohane, vice president of Cabot Functional Materials, said that the demand for masterbatch in the pan-Asia-Pacific region, including China, is growing rapidly. The masterbatch products produced at the Tianjin plant will supply a variety of downstream products. Markets such as pipelines, wires, cables and the rapidly growing automotive industry.
