Petrochemical Association signed a contract with 12 universities to jointly promote production, research and development

Since the reform of government institutions in 1998 severed the official bond, more than a dozen colleges and universities with chemicals as their main disciplines have worked independently. Despite the constant civil contact between them, the content of the exchange only stays at the level of friendship. All schools hope that they will join hands and seek common development plans. This wish was realized on August 3. Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, and the main leaders of 12 universities formally signed a cooperation agreement for production, learning and research in Nanjing, which formed a strategic alliance and jointly promoted the construction of an industry technological innovation system.

This agreement, which aims to establish a smooth cooperation channel between industry and universities, proposes the establishment of a production-learning-research alliance for the lack of scale and systematic reality in the combination of production, study and research in the construction of a technological innovation system in China's oil and chemical industry. The petrochemical association will use its extensive contacts and technology management functions in the industry, organize joining universities to participate in key research projects in the industry, strive for national science and technology funding support, establish research and development bases, organize scientific and technological achievements appraisal and awards, and promote the promotion and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The agreement also includes personnel training, international cooperation and information exchange.

Li Yongwu said at the once-in-a-year meeting of the president of the National College of Chemical Industry that the chemical universities are playing a pivotal role in promoting technological innovation in the industry. The industry and universities have a good tradition of scientific research cooperation. Faced with the new situation of vigorously advancing the construction of a technological innovation system, it is now necessary to take a higher level in the depth and scale of cooperation. The association has the advantages of being extensively connected in the industry and possessing a wealth of information. It can combine the production, learning and research to build a bridge, bridges and paving. It is hoped that through this strategic alliance, China's petroleum and chemical industry technology innovation system will be launched in a large area and with a high starting point.

Academician Ouyang Pingkai, president of Nanjing University of Technology, stated that the establishment of such an alliance not only enables the university to fully integrate into the construction of the petroleum and chemical industries, but also establishes a multi-faceted cooperation platform for these traditionally close universities, and expands the space for colleges and universities to run schools. Improving the level of education is of great benefit.

The universities that signed the agreement are Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Nanjing Normal University, Zhengzhou University, Nanjing University of Technology, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Wuhan Engineering University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Liaoning University of Petroleum and Chemical Technology, Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology, Huaihai Institute of Technology, Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology, and Jiangsu Industrial Institute. Nanjing University hosted this year's meeting as the host.
